Due to poor economic condition and various social barriers, her family was at dire strait. Her father and elder brother work in a shoe shop in Delhi. Her mother, Girija Devi too wanted to support the family through an additional income.
She took 3 consecutive loans from CDOT for rearing of buffaloes, which makes her earn a monthly income on Rs.1000 to 2000. This was hardly enough to support the education of her Sushila, who was keen to continue with her studies but did not have the ability to do so.Hence she applied for the Educational Loan from CDOT under Rang De project.
She was eligible for availing of this loan as her mother was an existing beneficiary of the micro finance programme. Sushila attends a college about 5 kms away from her and is doing her Intermediate with subjects of Political Science, Social Science, English and Hindi. She wishes to take up teaching as a profession, and also has plans to render private tuitions to the children of the community to help them with their regular studies. The self worth and confidence that has build up in Sushila and other such students who are pursuing higher studies are the fruits of what CDOT has sown in terms of support.
